If you are going to eat bread it should be sourdough! It not only tastes SO yummy but it has loads of nutritional benefits!
The starter that makes sourdough bread is fermented which means it breaks down gluten and which makes it easier for our bodies to digest.
Easier to digest = LESS BLOATING!
Sourdough contains prebiotics and probiotics that again make it easier to digest as well as increase vitamin and mineral absorption in the body. Our body absorbs more nutrients from sourdough than any other bread including vitamin B, selenium, and iron. These minerals help with red blood cell production, metabolism regulation, immune system protection, and more!
I love this recipe because I’m a HUGE bread lover and when I eat sourdough I know that it is helping my body more than hurting it. When buying your sourdough be sure to buy it from a farmer’s market, online bakery, or fresh from a bakery. Many sourdoughs are not the real thing! READ HERE to find out how to make sure the sourdough you’re buying is the real thing!

3 tsp avocado oil (or olive oil)
1/4 tsp Himalayan pink salt
1 1/2 tsp minced garlic (3 cloves of garlic, minced)
1/3 tsp garlic powder
Oregano to taste (I use about 1/4 tsp)

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and cut sourdough loaf into slices.
2. Cut slices in 1 1/2 inch pieces (All the pieces won’t be the same size.)
3. Spray a baking sheet with avocado or olive oil spray.
4. Lay out all the bread pieces on the baking sheet.
5. Drizzle bread with oil of choice, then season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, minced garlic, garlic powder, and oregano.
6. With your hands, spread around bread pieces making sure they are all coated as evenly as possible.
7. Bake at 350 degrees for 18 minutes for crunchy croutons. (For less crunchy bake for 13-15 minutes.)
8. Take fresh croutons of the oven and ENJOY!
My favorite way to enjoy these crunchy croutons is on my soups and salads! And sometimes on their own as a snack, they are that yummy!
I always store my extra croutons in a Ziploc baggy to use throughout the next couple of days!
